Hello to you all Since the last update we learnt the news that our bid to become a Department of Health pathfinder was unsuccessful ...
We are proud of the fact that we reached the national assessment panel stage of the process and were heartened by all the well wishes and supportive messages that we have received by partners in recent weeks. So what next you may ask? Whilst investment from the Department of Health would have been welcome, we have not been thrown off course and continue to work towards our goal of developing the social enterprise. The social care investors Futurebuilders have awarded us funding, which has been matched from local sources keen to develop the third sector, is sufficient for us to procure legal advice and some project management. Our key stakeholders and partners are also supporting the initiative and the promise of developing ideas and business plans that realise our social aims. In the next update I will have more information on the organisations proposed structure, board and membership and there will be opportunities for staff to contribute through a series of discussion forums. Well done to all at WISMS who contributed to the 5th Annual Public Health Conference where a number of our services were showcased and our plans for social enterprise were shared with a wider public health audience. What's New in WISMS Work is progressing in respect of the new criminal justice care pathway - the Alcohol Treatment Requirement (ATR). More details will be posted on this site in the near future, but in a nutshell ATR workers based in the Alcohol Team will work with a case tracker to support individuals sentenced to a Treatment Requirement as a result of committing an alcohol related crime.

New Name for the Enterprise - Your Ideas Wanted WISMS is instantly recognisable across the district, but we have had a steady trickle of comments regarding changing the name to better reflect our values and mission as a growing business with plans to diversify. Do you have an idea for a new name or perhaps you know of a way we can develop a strong and meaningful brand for the organisation? Do you feel we should create a new identity for WISMS? How would WISMS translate if we were to offer services outside of the Wakefield district? We will be communicating with all staff shortly to get their views on a name and mission for the new organisation. The WISMS team is actively seeking ideas for new areas of development for the social enterprise. If you have an idea you wish to share or comment on any of the services we currently offer, please contact us through the contact us link or contribute to the discussion forums that will be commencing from this month. In the meantime gather your creative thoughts and email us with your new 'name' ideas to
