What we offer

We work alongside treatment workers to help with parents/carers who may need additional support at critical transition points, such as entry to or exit from treatment programmes or relapse.

We offer emotional or practical support; we explore sources of support and information so the adult knows where and how to get help.

If the needs of the family cannot be met by the worker making a single referral or the needs appear to be complex, the case would come to us; we would then offer the family a home visit for additional outreach support linking them back into mainstream support services. We would always seek a way forward which is acceptable to the service user.

If for any reason a service user is no longer receiving treatment for their substance use we continue to help them and their family, until support is no longer needed or is being given by other services.

Examples of what we do

  • Child/ young persons safety advice
  • Health Care advice
  • Issues around school and attendance
  • Childcare advice
  • Reduce the risk of children being looked after by local authority
  • General advice, information and signposting to other support services
  • Support and advice to help you to resume your children's care if possible
  • Supporting families, where the children have a plan with an identified need to protect them.

Referrals

As a team we normally accept referrals from professionals and service-users alike. Where parental substance misuse impacts upon children, we can assist supporting parents/carers in addressing their issues and promoting positive outcomes for their children.
