Psycho-Social Intervention
I've been referred to the Psycho-Social Interventions Team - what does that mean?
Psycho-Social Intervention (PSI) sounds complicated, but it simply means support sessions, where your key worker talks to you about your treatment, your experiences, your aims and ambitions.
It's a way of helping you and the people who care about you to make plans for your future.
How often do the support sessions happen?
You normally come to at least 6 sessions, which usually last 1 hour. They can be either individual sessions with your key worker, or group sessions. Sometimes your family or friends may also take part in the sessions.
Each session looks at a different topic, such as life skills, family relationships or your treatment programme. They will give you information about the different stages of your treatment, about support groups that might be useful and about things you can do to help yourself.
Where are the sessions held?
They are held in venues across the Wakefield district, and we will help you to find one that is near you.
