Service description
The Structured Day Programme (SDP) provides intensive support to adults living in the Wakefield area who have a history of drug use and is designed to support individuals who are trying to live in their own communities, where the risk of relapse may be higher
The Structured Day Programme provides a programme of structured activities and interventions for drug users, which includes groupwork, employment, training and education opportunities as well as complementary therapies and leisure activites, our aim is to help service users and develop their lifeskills to further personal development.
The service has a senior manager, an administrator/receptionist, 4 project workers and a support worker based on site working up to 37 hours per week. Each project worker is responsible for a number of service users and the delivery of their programme.
Service users are accepted on a referral only basis, the service is not an open access facility.
There are key elements to the programme, which consists of:
- Group Work - where service users have an opportunity to discuss and share their experiences within a structured setting around relevant topics.
- Healthy Living - learning about food preparation and enjoying the results.
- Recreational Activities - varying activities with a strong service user led input - i.e. sports, music, art sessions.
- Basic Skills - delivered in groups.
- One to One Work - where service users have a care plan and regular reviews as well as time to discuss any relevant issues with their key worker.
- Preparation for Education and Employment - clients gain skills in job application writing, interview techniques and how to refer to local college courses.
- Study Area and Internet Access - where service users can work on pieces of study work and access information from the internet.
- Complementary Therapies
